Check out the details as WhatsApp tests a new update for status updates!

Meta has been working to bring its apps—such as Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp—together. Numerous features are shared by all three applications, with vanishing Stories and Status updates (for WhatsApp) being the most notable. A new method for responding to Instagram-inspired status updates is now anticipated for this functionality.

A new reply bar for Status updates is part of the beta update that WhatsApp is now rolling out for iOS and Android users. It resembles the longer, pill-shaped reply bar that is available for Instagram Stories.

This will take the place of the swipe-up motion (see below) in the messaging app to respond to Statuses. It is unclear how the swipe-up reply option will function with the new reply bar since, for those who are unaware, it also displays six emoji responses, which are very similar to Instagram's emoji reactions.

We anticipate that WhatsApp will keep using a swipe-up motion for responses, just as Instagram does. Will this be helpful, though?

Convenience is prioritized above maintaining the same UI components as Instagram with the new reply box for Status updates. Nowadays, it often seems like a nuisance to swipe up in order to respond to a status update. This will disappear with the more straightforward reply bar, enabling improved communication even for status updates. The screenshot below, which was given by WABetaInfo, shows you the new reply bar in testing.

Furthermore, a feature that allows Channel owners to get channel alerts is being tested by WhatsApp. For those who are unaware, WhatsApp just unveiled Channels, which allow users to easily share information. For a deeper understanding, find out about WhatsApp Channels and how to join them.

When WhatsApp will make the aforementioned available to the broader public is yet unknown. Regarding what's new, iOS users can now take use of a few more features on the messaging platform owned by Meta. This covers features like the newly added View Once voice message option, connection health check during calls, and sticky messages in group chats.
