Butcher's death marked the end of the Boys Comics.
In the comics, Homelander leads an army of supermen in a coup and seizes control of the White House. He murders the president and takes the White House chair for himself. With a crowbar in hand and the US military at his side—who have created weapons capable of killing supermen—Butcher marches to the White House. Butcher intends to confront Homelander head-on when he enters the White House. But things don't quite go according to his intentions. Black Noir, a comic book clone of Homelander, then attacks Homelander. Butcher ultimately ends Black Noir's life in a very cruel way.
William Butcher dies at the hands of Hughie in the last scene of The Boys comics. Thus far in the series, it has been shown that Homelander has effectively carried out his strategy. Now that he is in a position of authority in the US, he has practically had his army of superpowers delivered to him. He has the power to overthrow the government and assassinate the president at any moment.Homelander's Journey in the Boys Comics
Homelander was intended to be just as insane in the comic books as he is. To be clear, he was still a horrible guy prior to his manipulation, but he was eventually motivated to become a psychopath. Homelander began to get pictures of himself doing horrible acts that he couldn't recall. He realizes that he does these acts when he blacks out, and eventually he begins to perform them while being conscious of them as well.
Following the previously described coup, Butcher confronts Homelander in the Oval Office, and a brawl is about to break out. Black Noir appears and discloses that he is a far more potent Homelander clone designed to destroy Homelander should Homelander ever lose control. Black Noir, on the other hand, is desperate to murder Homelander, so he dresses up as Homelander and commits crimes, including sexually assaulting Butcher's wife, so that Black Noir may kill him when he goes insane.
This infuriates Homelander, who then assaults Black Noir. But after taking down Homelander and leaving with his body torn, Black Noir is shot and killed by US Military forces. Black Noir gets fatally harmed when Butcher approaches him and uses a crowbar to crack open his head.
What Did The Seven Get Up To In The Boys Comics
The Deep and Starlight, who both go into hiding, are the only two members of The Seven still alive after Homelander and Black Noir die. If you're curious in what happens to Queen Maeve, you should know that in previous issues of The Boys, Homelander murdered her off, and A-Train did the same.
