According to Variety, Jim Mickle, the show's creator, said in 2023 that the third season would bring the story to a close. In addition, he said that the comic book plot might be told in 24 episodes. He said, "I think you started out trying to tell these major parts of the comic book and these landmark pieces of Gus' story, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus' journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be."

A lot of television programs have unreasonably long runs, which ultimately drive viewers away. Fortunately, Sweet Tooth isn't one of them since the show's writers chose wisely to let the series conclude organically. He later makes pals with a number of humans and hybrids. Additionally, he encounters a number of antagonists, including General Abbott in Season 2 and Helen Zhang in Season 3. Even in the most trying circumstances, he managed to emerge safe because he had his loved ones by his side throughout his many struggles.Helen Zhang, Dr. Singh, and a massive army pursue him in Season 3 because they believe he has the answer to ending the pandemic.
