Review of Bodkin: A Fun Crime Drama You Should See This Weekend

The executive producers of Netflix's upcoming comedic TV series Bodkin, Michelle and Barack Obama, makes the project appear even more fascinating. The narrative of Bodkin begins with Dove (Siobhan Cullen), a journalist, being asked to help Gilbert Power (Will Forte), a true crime podcaster, locate a topic for his show. Emmy (Robin Cara) becomes the researcher and joins the pair. Gilbert wanted to find a compelling narrative that may help him save his career since he had just one successful podcast. But none of the three realized that the trip they were on would completely transform their lives. Certainly, the concept is intriguing, but will the TV show's seven episodes be sufficient to make an impression on viewers? Let's investigate.

An Impactful Story That Establishes Balance

I have to admit that Bodkin's story is really compelling and will appeal to all readers of this genre. At first, the plot seems to be simple. We see Gilbert, Emmy, and Dove go to Bodkin, a picturesque Irish village. As Gilbert often says in the TV series, the location has a really attractive appearance. But soon, we discover that the town's soil is home to a number of secrets. The main trio begins by discussing the disappearances that happened 20 years ago at a large event. But as the narrative progresses, it becomes clear that the mystery surrounding the murder has been unresolved for all these years. You will be quite disappointed if you like watching television programs that stumble in the first few episodes. It takes some time for Bodkin to disclose its actual nature, and character development doesn't happen until episode 4. The mystery behind the killings, rather than the primary people who are cracking the cases, is the show's major attraction for the most part.Having said that, the program does manage to keep you interested with its distinct mystery, which I have only encountered in a few other episodes. Every case presents a startling turn of events that defies your assumptions and forecasts with unexpected turns. For example, it seems like the town's greatest mystery has been solved when Dove discovers Sergeant Power's vehicle in the bog with two disfigured corpses in the trunk area, but unhappily, things are not that simple. We find out later that there is a great deal more to this case. The television series surprises us by revealing a fresh perspective just when we think we are getting near to the conclusion.Aside from that, one of the finest things about Bodkin is that it illuminates the supporting characters while still maintaining the focus on the primary ones. The backstories of the supporting characters are revealed, along with the connections between them and the wounds from the past that shaped who they are now.In other words,Bodkin is unique in that it presents the narrative from the viewpoints of each character. In one episode, Dove is seen falling from a tree in front of Seamuse's automobile, but not much is shown about her ordeal. What what occurred to Dove that day is later revealed in the other episode.

Impressive Acts That Keep You Interested in the Show

I had no expectations going into the TV series, however. Before I started, all I knew about it was that it was Netflix's version of the popular Hulu series Only Murders in Building. But just a few minutes, I became engrossed in the program, and that's all because to the performers' superb portrayals of the imaginary characters. It dawned on me that Will Forte was destined for the part of Gilbert Power. As Power, he brought us to tears with his pleas to let go of the divorce and his attempts to salvage his failing profession, and we laughed at his cheesy and innocent jokes. However, Siobhan Cullen went over and above in her portrayal of Dove to give the impression that she is living the worst possible existence. Aside from them, Robyn Cara did a decent job as Emmy, but in my opinion, the performance of the others named was superior. I was always so taken aback by Dove and Gilbert that I forgot Bodkin had three main characters at one time.Aside from them, Seamus (David Wilmot) and Sean O'Shea (Chris Walley) are the supporting characters deserving of the greatest recognition.

Characters That Are Relatable

After creating a podcast about his wife's disease, Gilbert Power made a mistake that ultimately destroyed his marriage. Given that we are all attempting to establish boundaries between our personal and professional lives, Gilbert's narrative does make you feel bad for him. Gilbert's character development is very lovely, and at the conclusion of the first season, his character arc has gone full circle despite taking some time to complete.Dove, on the other hand, has spent a number of years escaping her history, which is why she occupies herself with journalistic cases. She makes errors, just like the majority of us, and chooses to avoid facing her history rather than face it. She finds comfort in her profession, but with the support of our other two major heroes, she finally steps outside of her comfort zone.

Is Bodkin Worth Watching?

Although Bodkin isn't a flawless true-crime program, it is nevertheless well worth the watch. This weekend, if you're in the market for a decent crime thriller, it's definitely something you should see.
