WhatsApp has now stopped allowing users to screenshot their profile pictures.

WhatsApp profile photographs are a fantastic way to express yourself and make yourself more easily identifiable to other users. They may, nonetheless, also be downloaded and utilized maliciously by other people. WhatsApp eliminated the option to download profile images almost five years ago in order to address that issue. However, you may still get a snapshot of them. WhatsApp is addressing this issue with the most recent beta version.

The most recent WhatsApp beta version for Android, #2.24.4.25, has included significant privacy-related modifications, as reported by WABetaInfo. Currently, the app forbids capturing screenshots of users' profile images. By making this adjustment, you may increase security even further by prohibiting unauthorized users from taking your profile picture.

On our end, we have tried this functionality, and it functions as planned. As shown in the example above, a toast message with the caption " Can't take a screenshot due to app restrictions" will appear anytime someone tries to take a screenshot of one of their profile images. This will deter people from attempting to save other users' profile images in the future.

This is a significant development for the app's user privacy as sharing and improper use of profile photographs has long been a problem for many WhatsApp users. This vulnerability gave other nefarious parties the ability to intimidate other users or fabricate identities. This feature reduces illegal sharing of people's profile images and enhances user privacy inside the app.

However, as we discovered, users may still use other phones to take images or films of the profile pictures, thus it will never be 100% secure. However, preventing people from taking screenshots of other people's profile images is the appropriate step in stopping con artists and bad actors.

If you are registered in the Beta program, you may get the update from the Google Play Store since it is currently available for a limited number of users. The upgrade will be made available to all users over the next several weeks, so other people will have to wait.
