A number of new features that are currently present in the smartphone app are often absent from WhatsApp Web or even the desktop version. This includes the lack of WhatsApp's newly introduced Chat lock function, which lets you lock and conceal certain conversations. The good news is that WhatsApp Web will soon get this much sought functionality. The most recent version provides us with a peek at the Chat Lock symbol, which is located in the sidebar tab and suggests the arrival of this function, as WABetaInfo recently reported. Users will be able to add new chats to the hidden folder or see their locked conversations on the web client as a result. The Chat Lock on the sidebar is represented by the padlock symbol, as you can see in the picture above. We may infer from this that closed conversations will have their own browser tab. It need to be possible to conceal this tab with a passcode. The online application may even make use of the passkey mechanism that WhatsApp recently adopted in order to secure conversations. For those who don't know, WhatsApp conversation lock allows you to lock certain chats and conceal them in a different folder. They are only accessible via the screen lock on your phone and are concealed from view in the chat window. It is a quite helpful function, particularly when talking about something you don't want other people to know about. The functionality will eventually find its way to the web app, maybe in conjunction with a fresh redesign, even if it is still in the development stage.
