How to Make the Apple Watch Swipe to Change the Watch Face

With watchOS 10, Apple radically changed the way people interacted with their Apple Watches. While many people were happy to see the addition of widgets to the Apple Watch, other changes, such as changing the gesture to open the control center and eliminating swipe gestures to switch watch faces, disappointed many. In response, Apple has updated the watchOS 10.2 software to bring back the ability to change the watch face with a swipe motion. Learn how to swipe between watch faces on the Apple Watch by reading on.

Apple claims that the reason for the gesture adjustment was user concerns that it was too simple to inadvertently switch watch faces. Many are disappointed by the existing method of pushing for a lengthy time before swiping to change the active watch face.

You may go back to the previous method on your Apple Watch if you have watchOS 10.2 installed; however, you will need to explicitly activate this option in the settings. Now that you know how to enable swipe-based watch face switching on the Apple Watch, let's get started:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  • Here, tap on the Clock option.
  • Now, toggle on the Swipe to Switch Watch Face option.
Take note: WatchOS 10.2 beta 3 was just released, and watchOS 10.2 is now in the beta testing stage. As soon as the update is accessible to all users, we will update this article.
