How to Disable Safari's Private Browsing

Like other browsers, Safari has an incognito mode called Private Browsing that lets you conceal cookies and browsing history. But learning how to utilize Private Browsing is essential if you're new to Apple and attempting to get your mind around the workings of the installed Safari browser. Although we do have a specific explanation on how to open Safari in Incognito, this one explains how to disable Private Browsing. Come with me while we examine!

Disable Mac Safari Private Browsing

To begin with, the Mac Safari browser enables you to create distinct Incognito windows, much like the PC version of Google Chrome. You may now choose to shut all of these windows and tabs at once or just some of them. Here is a summary of everything:

Shut off individual tabs and windows for private browsing.
  1. This will open an overview of your opened Safari Private tabs.
  2. Here, you can simply click on the small X icon at the top of each of these tabs to close them.
  1. Alternatively, when on a Safari Private Browsing window, use the Command + W shortcut to instantly close the window and all of its tabs.
  1. Navigate to any Private Safari window and click on the tabs icon at the top right.

Now, have a look at the part below if you want to dismiss all of your Private windows and their tabs and clear up all of the clutter at once!

Shut Down Every Private Browser Window and Tab
  1. When on a Private Browsing window on Safari, drag your mouse to the very top to reveal the Chrome toolbar.
  2. From here, navigate to File > Close All Windows. This will close all your Safari Private windows and tabs.
  1. Alternatively, you can use the Command + Option + W shortcut to carry out the same action.

Disable Private Browsing in Safari on iPhone

On iOS, you have the option to launch as many tabs as you want in instead of opening numerous Private Browsing windows. Now, you may delete all tabs or just one after opening the Safari app on iOS. Check out the parts below that are specifically for them if you want to accomplish any of those:

Close Each Tab for Your Own Private Safari Browsing
  1. Head over to any private browsing tab on your iPhone’s Safari and tap on the tabs icon at the bottom right.
  2. In the tab overview, simply tap on the small X icon at the top of each of these tabs to close them. Or, you can simply swipe left on the tabs to close them.
  3. You can also long press on any tab and select Close Other Tabs to keep that specific tab open and close the rest.
Close Every Tab for Private Browsing in Safari
  1. Head over to your tab overview again and, here, long press on any tab.
  2. Then, tap on Select Tabs and select all the opened tabs individually by tapping on them.
  3. Once done, tap on Close at the bottom and hit Close X Tabs to clear it all in one go. Here X is the number of tabs currently open.
And that's how you disable Safari's Incognito Mode, often known as Private Browsing. This concludes our tutorial; for more information, see our specific article on disabling Incognito Mode entirely on all popular browsers. Please feel free to ask any further questions in the comments section below!
