It's likely that you may see at least one symbol at the top of your Apple Watch's dial, perhaps the notorious "red dot on Apple Watch." The Apple Watch shows a few of icons on the dial, but there are many more in locations such as the Control Center. This is your comprehensive reference to all Apple Watch symbol meanings, in case you're as perplexed about them as I was when I first began using the device.

1. Red Dot Icon
This indicator shows that your Apple Watch has unread notifications. To see them, swipe down from the top to open the Notification Center. To access the Notification Center, long press on the top edge of the screen when using an app, and then slide down.

Your Apple Watch is presently charging on its dock, as shown by the green flash symbol on the device.

Low Battery IconThe low battery level of your Apple Watch is indicated by the red flashing indicator. To recharge the battery, place your watch on the included charging cradle. Lock IconWhen your Apple Watch is passcode-locked, you see the lock icon. As soon as your watch is removed off your wrist, this occurs automatically.
