When Will I Am Legend 2 Be Released?
The news of I Am Legend 2 first surfaced in March 2022. It was confirmed that Michael B. Jordan would be appearing in I Am Legend 2 with would Smith, who will be reprising his role as Dr. Robert Neville. I Am Legend 2 currently lacks a release date, but because it has been in development since 2022, it's possible that it may arrive by late 2024 or early 2025.

Cast Could Be?
The only confirmed cast members for I Am Legend 2 are Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville and Michael B. Jordan in an unidentified role. Not many more cast members have been revealed. Will Smith was originally opposed to writing this follow-up. Will Smith said in a BBC Radio 1 interview that he most likely won't be in I Am Legend 2. He said:
Producers are putting effort on it. In reality, I'm not working on it," he said at the time. "I'm into it if it's fantastic. I'd rather not be "the sequel guy." I estimate that I have another six or seven years left.
It was revealed in a discussion with Entertainment Tonight later in March 2022.that Will Smith has decided to participate in the follow-up after all. He said in the discussion, while he did not provide any plot details:
"I was going to leave it alone, but then I heard about this notion.I'm not allowed to discuss it just yet, but it's a very, really great concept, and Michael B. Jordan helped come up with it.

What Plot Could There Be in I Am Legend 2?
We are still in the dark about I Am Legend 2's whole storyline. In a chat with Deadline, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, however, said that he drew inspiration from the 2023 release of The Last of Us series. He did make note of the fact that the film would be set many decades after the events of I Am Legend. During their chat, she said:
"The Last of Us has captured my attention; it depicts a world not just after the catastrophe but also after a 20–30 year gap. You see how the earth reclaims the planet, and there's a lovely question: what happens when man no longer serves as the major occupant? In New York, it will be extremely striking.
Is the Different Resolution of I Am Legend 2 Based on It?
Yes, I Am Legend 2 will adhere more closely to Richard Matheson's original book, as revealed by the film's screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman. Additionally, Akiva said that they will continue with the different conclusion of I Am Legend, which would make the adaptation of the book more true to the original than it was in the first film.
