List of NYT Strands' Theme Words for March 31

You are probably ready to view the answers if you have scrolled this far. Now, let's examine the topic words for today in Strands:

  • STAR
  • BULB
  • FIREFLY
  • NEON
  • LANTERN
  • ANGLERFISH

Today, our content strategist, Akshay, joined me once again. For fun, we began by marking random, unconnected words. We discovered STAR throughout the process, so we were aware of today's subject. We discovered BULB, FIREFLY, and NEON in short succession. But after that, things became more difficult, and our comatose brains of today were unable to solve the remaining problem. One clue was required.

We found LANTERN at the far right thanks to this suggestion. Akshay and I exchanged the most dejected look ever. We ran out of patience today, so after ten minutes we were unable to come up with another term, we used up another suggestion. It took us a while to get past the nearly Spangram-like term that resulted in ANGLERFISH. After solving the remaining puzzle pieces, we discovered ILLUMINATION to be today's Spangram and ended the game.

We used two suggestions in the end, ending our one-day run without receiving a hint. That's all, then.
