We hear about new features being developed at WhatsApp HQ every day, and the most recent beta update tells us that audio-sharing and music-playing will soon be available on the messaging app. When screen sharing is enabled during an ongoing video call, the functionality will function. Users will be able to share device audio when screen sharing with others thanks to this functionality.
This feature, which WABetaInfo first noticed in the most recent WhatsApp Android beta version 2.23.26.18, is now in development. You may get the beta version from the Google Play Store. With the inclusion of this capability, WhatsApp video calling will expand even further, much as Apple did with the SharePlay feature in FaceTime for iPhone and Mac.
The image below illustrates how this function works: while you are using WhatsApp for screen sharing, a pop-up will show up in the app. If permitted, every caller will be able to listen to any audio or music that is playing on your device as a group.
If you are not on a phone call or sharing your screen, the feature won't function. I'm confident WhatsApp will include a feature to mute or stop voice sharing even while screen sharing is enabled, even though it's unclear at the moment.
The function is still under development, so it's unclear when exactly all users will be able to use it. The integration of audio sharing and music might lead to a more formal setting for the messaging service operated by Meta. I can easily see companies using WhatsApp as a substitute for other video conferencing apps, given its present user base.
Personally, I'm going to routinely organize viewing parties in my social groups using this tool. This feature is going to make binge-watching TV episodes and movies much more enjoyable. I hope it makes its way onto the desktop app as well.
