WhatsApp Will Use This New Feature to Tackle Spam and Abuse

Similar to iMessage, WhatsApp has over 3 billion monthly active users and is now the world's most popular communication app. However, this has also made the app a haven for spam and the dissemination of false information. WhatsApp will soon restrict users from participating in new chats for abusive or spam-like behavior in an effort to combat this problem.

This information was uncovered by WABetaInfo, who found that in the most recent WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.10.5 update, the platform is testing a feature that prevents the user account from starting a new conversation. This and The restriction is a penalty for specific app infractions, and it will remain in effect for an unspecified period of time. As the screenshot illustrates, launching a new chat will result in the pop-up notification "Your account is restricted right now."

It's important to note that this limitation prevents you from initiating new conversations. You may keep responding to groups and chats that you were involved in before to limitation. Though it is still under development, you may expect to see the feature on your WhatsApp eventually.

A feature such as this is extremely welcomed in the present context of elections occurring in the world's most prominent areas. It will assist in reducing the amount of misinformation and false news that individuals and bots propagate. It offers you another opportunity to make amends and grow up instead of banning you permanently. I hope this pop-up doesn't ever appear on your WhatsApp!
