Hughie is the one who kills Butcher in the comic book adaptation of The Boys. Not content with only the two of them dead, Butcher murders Black Noir after Black Noir kills Homelander. Therefore, he develops a strain of Compound V that, like the Supe-killing virus we've seen in The Boys series, is capable of killing supes.

The world's superpowers will all perish from this infectious virus that Butcher produces and releases into the sky. Frenchie, Hughie, Mother's Milk, and The Female (Kimiko) confront Butcher for his insane scheme and battle him. Butcher kills Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and The Female despite their best efforts, leaving Hughie as the only survivor.

After Hughie makes the decision to stop Butcher, they engage in a fierce combat at the top of the Empire State Building. After the altercation, Butcher sustains serious injuries, and Hughie tries to murder him with the knife he is holding against him.

Butcher tells Hughie that he has murdered his parents out of wrath because he knows that if he survives, he won't be able to stop himself from carrying out his plan. After brutally stabbing Butcher through the heart, Hughie hurries to phone home. When Hughie turns to face Butcher, he is sitting with his back to the wall, smiling, and his parents pick up the phone because Butcher is lying. Thus, this is how Butcher passes away in the comics. Hopefully, he has a happier ending in the series, but until then, only time will tell! Check back for more updates!
