Prepare yourselves if you were sick of seeing advertisements at the beginning, middle, and conclusion of YouTube films. The video-sharing website is looking at other ways to display more commercials to you. Indeed, YouTube intends to display more advertisements on your screen; in the next weeks, you may see advertisements on stopped videos.
As said at YouTube's Brandcast event last year, pause adverts for smart TVs were already under pilot testing. The results of this experimental test were revealed by Google Vice President Philipp Schindler during Alphabet's first-quarter earnings call. He claims that "Initial results show that Pause Ads are commanding attention and driving strong brand lift results."
These advertisements will appear when you stop a video you were viewing. The video you were viewing will halt as the ads take over the screen. Ads will fill the player and the video will resize. To continue viewing the video, you must reject the pause advertisement. If this sounds familiar, that's because Hulu displays stopped advertisements in a similar manner.
Although we don't know when pause advertisements will appear for everyone, given the favorable results of the first testing, we could see them soon. YouTube debuted 30-second unskippable advertisements last year, so they've already been rather aggressive with ad placement. Additionally, they have recently begun tightening up on adblockers and unofficial applications.
The platform may be attempting to get viewers to subscribe to the ad-free YouTube Premium service once again with the rise in ad placement. Guys, you just annoy them till they pay out. The introduction of a new ad style on YouTube will undoubtedly have the most negative impact on the platform's free users. How do you feel about pause ads? Tell us in the comments below.
