Certain Indian WhatsApp Users Can Now Communicate with Meta AI

Meta has been working on creating a language model for artificial intelligence that is comparable to Microsoft's Copilot and Google's Gemini. In the United States, the firm has been testing the incorporation of Meta AI into its goods. Currently, it seems that additional areas are gaining the functionality, as some Indian users are now getting Meta AI on WhatsApp.

As seen in the picture below, the shortcut for Meta AI is added by the feature just above the chat icon. To access the AI-powered chatbot, users just need to touch on it. Users will be sent to the Meta AI conversation box by doing this. They may ask questions, do web searches, or ask for the feature to produce photos by entering instructions here.

Based on the Llama 2 generating text model, Meta AI makes use of research on Meta's Large Language Model. In order to provide precise search results with connections to its sources, it also makes use of Microsoft's Bing. This enables the chatbot to provide a seamless, interruption-free dialogue with the user.

Originally exclusive to the US, the function now seems to be making its way to other countries. Even after upgrading it to the most recent WhatsApp Beta version, I was still unable to get it on the stable version, unlike our resident tech writer Siddhartha. It's probably a server-side addition. Try upgrading to the most recent version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store to obtain this functionality.

It should be noted that Meta claims the chatbot's outcomes are not impacted by users' conversation history. WhatsApp conversations are still end-to-end encrypted. They won't be accessible to the AI, and the information provided is unrelated to that. Your conversations with Meta AI, however, may be used for internal testing and enhancements.

To be honest, I found using Meta AI on WhatsApp to be a little odd. Since that a sizable portion of the population has not yet had the opportunity to experience the potential of generative AI, I am pleased that it will make AI accessible to everybody. However, it also worries me about my privacy. Convincing myself that Meta AI won't go into my conversation logs and history is a tough pill to swallow.
